Sometime after the Universal Robot Band and sometime before where we are now, a pair of DJ/promoter/whatevers, Pete Adarkwah and Ben Jolly, ran a successful club night named after our eponymous song, playing a joyful mix of all they considered good. Kaidi is the bomb, man. So brilliant! His music is HIS, but an approximation would be an insane crossover of jazz rock (some vintage sounds here and there, think Herbie Hancock, maybe some old Jeff Beck sans guitar), Flying Lotus and Squarepusher for the jazzy beat madness, and groovy stylish kings Azymuth. Or something like that. Just fuckin' killer music to move your body to. This record is HARDER than the mellower and jazz-funkier Hard Times EP. Get both, this guy is the shit.

Sometimes in music you discover an artist or group that you just connect with and Children of Zeus just did that to me last year. Discovered by me via a recommendation on the Hip Hop Saved My Life podcast from the legendary Rodney P and I haven't stopped listening to them since. The soulful vibes, deep bass and raps, influenced so much by great music from the past whilst adding themselves to this rich history with their own music and life story and they are just as incredible live too. Do not let them pass you by.
